The Nit Game is one of the more playful ways to spice up a Poker Now table: each cycle, whoever is left still holding the “nit” — the last player who hasn’t won a hand — pays a prize tied to the big blind to everyone who has, funded by an escrow that carries across cycles. It playfully punishes sitting back and nudges the whole table to get involved.

There was one rough edge, though, and players told us about it: on a shorthanded table, the cycles come around fast, and each one asked you to confirm twice.

We just smoothed that out.

What used to happen

Every Nit cycle used to show a participating player two timed popups in a row:

1. An interest prompt — “I’m in” or “Skip”.
2. A confirmation prompt — choose where the escrow comes from, then confirm.

On a full table that is barely noticeable. But on a shorthanded table the cycle repeats often, so the same players kept dismissing the same two timers over and over. One player described it as “very hectic,” and they were right.

What changes now

The opt-in you already use to join a Nit cycle now does more work for you.

• Opt in to the cycle, and the interest prompt is skipped. Choosing to opt in is your “I’m in” — so we stop asking you the same question again.
• When your escrow already covers the cycle, the confirmation is handled automatically. If you didn’t lose the previous cycle, the escrow you already put up still covers the next one, so there is nothing new to fund and no decision to make. We confirm you in without the popup.

Put together: a recurring player who stays covered by their escrow goes from two prompts per cycle to zero. You opt in and keep playing.

When you’ll still see a prompt

We only skip a prompt when there is genuinely nothing to decide.

If your escrow doesn’t cover the upcoming cycle — which in practice means the player who lost the previous cycle and had their escrow drained — you’ll still see the confirmation prompt, because real chips need to move and that should always be your choice. That’s by design: the goal was to remove the repeated, redundant confirmations, not the ones that actually decide where your money goes.
